It has already been a week since I saw Amber Liu live on her ‘Gone Rogue’ tour and her tour has finally come to a close.
However, they doesn’t mean I have to stop raving about the event! I still haven’t come down from the high of that tour. It blew out the end of the year with a bang! It was amazing to see a Kpop star like her in person and I’m glad I can move along with no regrets.
For those who don’t know, Amber is a Kpop star. She was born and raised in the USA, but relocated to Korea as a teenager to begin her career as a Kpop idol. By now, at age 26, Amber has had a nearly 10-year career in Kpop, first in the group f(x) and then as a break-out solo artist. She released her first solo EP album, Beautiful, in 2015 showcasing her own personality, struggles, and ideas through her songs.
In 2018, Amber released her mixtape Rogue Rouge (who everyone mistakes for Rogue Rogue) with a series of music videos from each song on the mixtape.

Amber’s talents range from singing, rapping, dancing, playing guitar, having drumming experience, directing, filming, editing, producing, writing music, and arranging music. Along with that, she’s currently a bit trilingual (English, Korean, Chinese, though she claims she sucks at it). This is aside from her charming personality and ability to relate to people easily.

Amber’s song “Shake That Brass” has a “vocal” part towards the end of the song and she has recruited a lot of female artists to perform that unique role. Normally, the best vocalists have been chosen to sing that part. During the Gone Rogue tour, Amber sang the part herself!
But of all the women, aside from Amber (it’s her song), chosen to sing it, which was your favorite? This might be tricky. She featured some of the most powerful vocalists in Kpop.

Amber’s first solo album was Beautiful. Within the album, Amber showed her true colors, breaking from her f(x) image for the first time. Fans were able to witness her colorful personality, her inner thoughts and feelings, and, for many Kpop fans, her vocals for the first time, all in a package specially designed for the artist. In 2018, Amber released a project, supported by her friends, called Rogue Rouge Mixtape. In this collection, Amber showed a candid, raw, and soulful side to herself. She experimented with different genres, collaborated with some new people, and created a video for each song. Literally, Amber produced and directed each video as well as contributed to the editing of the videos. The mixtape also inspired the Gone Rogue tour recently.
Amber has also released singles called White Noise + Lost At Sea and Countdown. She’s been a busy bee this year!
After hearing her music, watching the videos, and seeing the performances, which song did you like best in 2018?
