Lately, it seems like the Illuminati is thrown around more often than it has ever been.
It seems like every music video I watch on Youtube, here comes conspiracy theorists preaching that certain videos carry signs of the “Illuminati”. So I decided to do more research on the subject because I’m not only exasperated, but officially curious. Who is this “secret organization”? What do they stand for? What is the history behind the Illuminati? And what does that word mean?
I’m dropping the big “controversy” bomb by talking about this. But I feel it’s worth the risk.
The Illuminati is always said to consist of people who are “siding with the Devil”. Most people associate it with the “Anti-Christ”. It also is rumored to consist of people who believe in “anarchy”, or the end of government as we know it. Many people place famous singers, actors, and politicians in this category. Symbols, such as the “All-Seeing Eye”, the “Egyptian Pyramids”, and others, seem to be icons of the Illuminati.
What Does ‘Illuminati’ Mean?
Illuminati means “Enlightened”. These people were said to bring to the table some of the most “radical” ideas in history. They believed themselves to be “Enlightened”, and believed themselves to have a more humanistic view of the world.
What are Some Modern Theories Surrounding the ‘Illuminati’?
Here are some modern conspiracy theories according to Wikipedia:
There is no evidence that the original Bavarian Illuminati society survived its suppression in 1785.[1] However, writers such as Mark Dice,[13] David Icke, Texe Marrs, Jüri Lina and Morgan Gricar have argued that the Bavarian Illuminati have survived, possibly to this day.
Many modern conspiracy theories propose that world events are being controlled and manipulated by a secret society calling itself the Illuminati.[14][15] Conspiracy theorists have claimed that many notable people were or are members of the Illuminati. Presidents of the United States are a common target for such claims.[16][17]
Other theorists contend that a variety of historical events were orchestrated by the Illuminati, from the Battle of Waterloo, the French Revolution and President John F. Kennedy’s assassination to an alleged communist plot to hasten the New World Order by infiltrating the Hollywood film industry.[18][19]
Some conspiracy theorists claim that the Illuminati observe Satanic rituals.
I started my research with the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, and worked my way from there.
The History of the Illuminati
The history of the Illuminati surprised me.
The Illuminati movement was founded on May 1, 1776 in Ingolstadt, Upper Bavaria as the Order of the Illuminati, and had an initial membership of five.[2] The founder was the Jesuit-taught Adam Weishaupt (d. 1830),[3] who was the first lay professor of canon law at theUniversity of Ingolstadt.[1] The Order was made up of freethinkers as an offshoot of the Enlightenment and seems to have been modelled on the Freemasons.[4] Illuminati members took a vow of secrecy and pledged obedience to their superiors. Members were divided into three main classes, each with several degrees, and many Illuminati chapters drew membership from existing Masonic lodges.
The goals of the Illuminati were to eliminate superstition, prejudice and the domination of government, philosophy and science by the Roman Catholic Church, to reduce oppressive state abuses of power, and to support the education of women and encourage their treatment as intellectual equals.[1] Weishaupt’s original plan was for the Order to be named the “Perfectibilists”.[2] The group has also been called the Bavarian Illuminati and its ideology “Illuminism”.
Many influential intellectuals and progressive politicians counted themselves as members, including Ferdinand of Brunswick and the diplomat Xavier von Zwack, who was the Order’s second-in-command.[5] The Order had branches in most European countries and reportedly had around 2,000 members over a span of ten years.[1] It attracted literary men such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe andJohann Gottfried Herder and the reigning dukes of Gotha and Weimar.
In 1777, Karl Theodor became ruler of Bavaria. He was a proponent of Enlightened Despotism and his government banned all secret societies including the Illuminati. Internal rupture and panic over succession preceded the society’s downfall.[1] A government edict dated March 2, 1785 “seems to have been deathblow to the Illuminati in Bavaria”. Weishaupt had fled and documents and internal correspondence, seized in 1786 and 1787, were subsequently published by the government in 1787.[6] Von Zwack’s home was searched and much of the group’s literature was disclosed.
My Thoughts
Well, I feel like I learned some real things about the “Illuminati”. After reading what the ORIGINAL Illuminati is all about, I can honestly say…I DON’T SEE ANYTHING WRONG HERE.
To me, it feels like religion, who hushed the Illuminati, are the ones who should be watched.
I’m sure the Catholic Church in the past would’ve loved to pin the the “Anti-Christ” on the Illuminati, scarring their name, to hide what THEY themselves were really doing: hanging people they suspected of witchery, abusing nations of different backgrounds, and treating women as inferiors.
If anything, the “Illuminati” was speaking out against the INJUSTICE of the church and government, no different from Martin Luther or Martin Luther King, Jr. If anything, the Illuminati was more “Christ-like” than the Church of old! Just as the Bible tells us to “honor women as your own flesh”, the Illuminati sought to make that happen. The Bible says to treat your neighbor with love. This would also include people of other nations, as we are all “neighbors” on this Earth. The Illuminati promoted that. Are these the “radical” ideas mankind fears today?
The “Old Church” was more concerned about pushing it’s own agenda, and famous for claiming that anyone who defied the church was acting against God, even if the practices of that church were not fair, right, or Biblical.
The government also hates the Illuminati too because the Illuminati questioned the ‘abuse of power’ that’s common with those in authority.
Isn’t this why the Reformation took place? To question the church? So wouldn’t everyone who supports a SECT other than Catholicism be supporters of the Illuminati? Wouldn’t anyone who speaks against political injustice also be supporting the Illuminati?
Perhaps the government and religions want us to hate the Illuminati because it threatens their right to rule and do whatever they want to do with people…So, maybe they are spreading propaganda linking the Illuminati to ‘666’ and the “Anti-Christ”. I’m not saying they are for sure, but how do we really know they aren’t?
It goes in further detail. Click Me to read more…
During the interwar period of the 20th century, fascist propagandists, such as British revisionist historian Nesta Helen Webster and American socialite Edith Starr Miller, not only popularized the myth of an Illuminati conspiracy but claimed that it was a subversive secret society which serves the Jewish elites that supposedly propped up both finance capitalism and Soviet communism in order to divide and rule the world. American evangelist Gerald Burton Winrod and other conspiracy theorists within the fundamentalist Christian movement in the United States—which emerged in the 1910s as a backlash against the principles of Enlightenment secular humanism, modernism, and liberalism—became the main channel of dissemination of Illuminati conspiracy theories in the U.S. Right-wing populists, such as members of the John Birch Society, subsequently began speculating that some collegiate fraternities (Skull and Bones), gentlemen’s clubs (Bohemian Club) and think tanks (Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission) of theAmerican upper class are front organizations of the Illuminati, which they accuse of plotting to create a New World Order through a one-world government.
Anti-Semitic messages starting spreading in the past, linking the Illuminati with the elite Jews in the World War era. They claimed Jews wanted to take over the world. They claimed “Jews” were part of this “secret society”. But how would this link to the “Anti-Christ’, when Christ himself was a Jew? To add, during the World Wars, we found Jews to be nothing but victims to hate crimes.
Theorists even linked “liberal causes” to the Illuminati, claiming that “left-wing” populists wanted to create a “New Order”, with the world under one-world government. Why is this so threatening? Why are they stamping out the idea? I think it’s because the government is afraid of losing power.
It seems like the government and religion are bent on stamping out TRUE EQUALITY.
From what I’m reading, the following things support the Illuminati:
*Feminism, true equality between men and women
*Civil Rights Movement, the idea that all people are equal to each other
*Campaigns that support Democracy, having the people decide who they want as their ruler
*The separation of Church and state
*Freedom to decide religion
The society’s goals were to oppose superstition, prejudice, religious influence over public life and abuses of state power, and to support women’s education and gender equality. The Illuminati—along with other secret societies—were outlawed by the Bavarian ruler, Charles Theodore, with the encouragement of the Roman Catholic Church, and were permanently disbanded in 1785.[1] In the several years following, the group was vilified by conservative and religious critics who claimed that they had regrouped and were responsible for the French Revolution.
In subsequent use, “Illuminati” refers to various organisations which claim or are purported to have links to the original Bavarian Illuminati or similar secret societies, though these links are unsubstantiated. They are often alleged to conspire to control world affairs, bymasterminding events and planting agents in government and corporations, in order to gain political power and influence and to establish aNew World Order. Central to some of the most widely known and elaborate conspiracy theories, the Illuminati have been depicted as lurking in the shadows and pulling the strings and levers of power in dozens of novels, movies, television shows, comics, video games and music videos.
Now, I don’t know if there’s a new organization on the rise claiming to be the “Illuminati”, but the original ideas of the Illuminati don’t sound that bad. In fact, it should be embraced more.
Perhaps the new “Illuminati” is pushing a new agenda, but they are making the founders look bad.
If the Illuminati is pushing these ideas in movies, music, and other entertainment, it isn’t any worse than crooked religions and government officials pushing their agendas on entertainment outlets, which just promotes the oppression of people. People have questioned the Church for years. I’m not going to say everyone goes by the Bible, but the people who claim to be Biblical sometimes show themselves to be major contradictions, and DO need to be exposed, especially if that religion is trying to control the nation.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Do you think the Illuminati is bad?
Again, I’m lost. What is so bad about the Illuminati? I don’t get it, I don’t understand it. Someone tell me why. Where are people getting this information that the Illuminati is corrupt?
I hope that this video will answer some of your questions

This video says that the Illuminati’s goal is Corruption. What are they trying to “Corrupt?” This also doesn’t state the origins of the Illuminati or the history. It only says the Illuminati is a secret society. But how were the formed? When were they formed? And why are the forming again?
The goal is empowerment. What are they trying to take power FROM? Why do they want power?
I understand there are subliminal messages in the videos that seem linked to the Illuminati, but are those messages all linked, and are they ALL bad? Is it evil or a cry for help?
Is 666 really a part of what the Illuminati originally stood for, or does the Catholic Church want us to believe that so we can keep oppressing the people who believed in it, and ignore the fallacies and hypocrisy in the Church and Government?
Is this indeed a ploy to keep the Church and State in power and oppress those who speak out against it? Or are the Illuminati the bad guys?
All it said is what it does to media. After doing research, the original goals of the Illuminati was to promote equality, and point of out the evils in the Church and the State. If anything, it seems the Church wants us to believe they are the Anti-Christ because they spoke out AGAINST the church, just like many people called Martin Luther the “Anti-Christ”, when he felt the Catholic Church never followed Biblical teachings and instead mixed Pagan worship, with their teachings…
So again, what is this Secret society the world seems to fear? Is it worth fearing? Is it bad to be influenced by them?
