By now, if you’ve been following my blog, you know that I’ve been f(x) crazy for the last two months, and my obsession doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. It won’t slow down until my big “promotional move” I have planned this summer. But that will be kept under my hat until then…
Just remember to #bfx2us and put your town behind it to show where your love for f(x) is coming from, if of course, you’ve fallen in love with this group as much as I have.
Well, this article is a part of that promotion. My goal is to push for an f(x) tour for, at least, next year.
To learn more about K-pop group f(x):

Just how Talented is f(x) Sulli?
Just how Talented is f(x) Victoria?
Just how Talented is f(x) Amber?
Just how talented is f(x) Luna?
To all of you who have watched the music videos, and who doubt the talent of the f(x) members, I will be doing something similar to an artist “portfolio”. In this case, I will be showcasing the musical background and skills of each f(x) artist. This resume “portfolio” of sorts will show all readers why I think these girls qualify to be a part of f(x), why I believe them to be SM’s major female multi-national group, and why I think f(x) has what it takes to make it internationally.
Basically, this is why I think you newcomers should hire them as one of your new favorite K-pop groups. 😉
Today, this article will focus on the lovely, ever-popular Krystal Jung!
Chrystal Soo Jung “Krystal”
Krystal is the beautiful “maknae” of the group, which simply means she’s the youngest. She’s always envied for her striking looks. Many people deem her the prettiest member, and she was even on a poll for “Most Enviable Body”.
Krystal is easily recognized as Girls’ Generation (SNSD) Jessica’s sister. But she has formed her own identity.
Krystal is often called “Ice Princess” because she’s a good ice skater and…because some people think she has a hard time appearing sweet and kind, so they might take her as “cold”. She was said to “struggle with an aeygo” on a radio interview, which means she struggles to have a cute and charming personality, even if she appears cute and charming.
I like that about Krystal. It means she’s not phony. She seems like a very honest and straightforward person. Her humor is very cynical and she quickly cuts her eyes.
She has an edge about her, but I like it.
Most people think Krystal is the most stylish out of everyone in f(x). But that depends on your taste.
Isn’t she gorgeous! I especially like when she smiles, I mean when she has one of her genuine smiles…which is rare to find, but like finding a hidden treasure.
Oh, but enough about Krystal’s lovely edge. Let’s get right to her credentials as a K-pop star!
Krystal Can Sing
Just about everybody knows Krystal can sing. She is often compared vocally to her sister Jessica and to group mate Luna. But her voice is unique and powerful in its own right. She and Luna do many duets together.
Even Amber said she is a fan of Luna and Krystal’s duets, which is probably why she let them take over her song “Good-bye Summer”…
Krystal is apart of SM’s The Ballad
This is a solo song Krystal sang called “Because of Me”
Krystal sang a duet called “Dear Daddy” with Luna for the Nu Abo EP
Krystal sang a duet called “You are my Destiny” with Luna for the single Chu
Krystal sang “Be My Baby” in the drama High Kick 3
Krystal Can Dance
Krystal isn’t given credit as lead dancer or anything like that, but Krystal is a polished dancer! Many people have to recognize that she is a powerful dancer. It just adds to her list of talents. But Krystal is one of the f(x) members who gets the most attention, so…many probably wouldn’t be surprised.
Krystal’s skating helps her to be a graceful dancer!

Krystal danced pre-debut
Luna and Krystal dance together
Krystal and Luna Dance to Lady Gaga
F(x) had a dynamite dance intro to “The Jump Off” and “Freeze”. Krystal, of course, shined.
Krystal Can play Piano
Unless you are a fan of Krystal or her sister, you probably didn’t know Krystal could play piano. Why? Because SM doesn’t show this talented side of hers very often. That’s why. And it’s such a shame, because Krystal has amazing piano skills.
Please, have a listen. Hopefully, somehow, someway, SM will open their ears, too.
Krystal featured with sister Jessica from Girls’ Generation and showed off her piano skills
Krystal plays a piece on the piano and on the harmonica in the drama High Kick 3
Krystal Catches on to Languages Quickly
Krystal is the best member when it comes to catching on to new languages. She was born in the USA, but was basically raised in South Korea. This means she speaks fluent English and Korean. But she caught on to Japanese and the Thai language pretty quickly, too!
Krystal English compilation
Krystal and Victoria change between Korean and their own native languages
Krystal caught on to Thai quickly
Krystal speaks the best Japanese out of all of the f(x) members, which is why she was asked to sing for The Ballad
Krystal is really talented, isn’t she? WOW. Simply stunning! Beauty and talent! Very hard to find both in one body sometimes…
Krystal is also an amazing ice skater!
Krystal is also quite the actress as well. She’s a very talented person!

She is not talented. Youre just exagerrating. Her voice is so weak. She doesnt deserve the lead singer title

Well, that is up to preference. I personally feel she can sing and she has a distinct voice. Not everyone with a strong voice is a great singer.
To add, define talent in your opinion? Talents aren’t just vocals. She can dance AND play the piano. Those are talents. I’m not exaggerating. These are based on videos I’ve watched and collected. Again, it is left up to preference in vocals. I’ve heard people say that hate Ailee’s voice because it’s too strong and that they prefer softer soothing voices…
She’s also not the lead singer. Luna is. But she and Luna make a good team. Because of You and You are My Destiny are really good songs. Dear Daddy is good as well.

People who dislike Ailee means they are definitely DEAF. Ailee’s voice >>>>>>> every female idol in Korea. Don’t bring Ailee here, she’s too great compared to Krystal.
You do know there are a huge gap between Luna and Krystal in term of singing, dancing and moreover, STAGE PRESENCE. Krystal’s voice is just thin and weak, she uses nasal voice and it isn’t pleasant to ears. If you ever recorded something maybe you will understand.

Again, that is according to preference.
“I Know Singing More than You Do”. Really? Is that for ego points or what? Are you a troll of some kind? I understand you’re trying to get attention, but again, your opinions are just that. OPINIONS. I respect them, but my opinion is that I enjoy Krystal’s voice. Plain and simple. Maybe I’m deaf in your eyes. So be it. You’re entitled to your opinion ABOUT my opinions, but there’s nothing I can say about that except I think Krystal can sing. Plain and simple. I’m a relatively new fan to Kpop after being a Jpop fan for many, many years. Again, I think when some people get used to hearing certain vocal types, some become less impressive. But for me, Krystal’s voice is really good, not great, but entertaining enough for me.
Believe it or not, I bring any idol I want here. Guess what? It’s my blog. Especially when referencing Ailee is to emphasize my point. Further, you can find individuals who don’t like Ailee. Just because you think she’s amazing, doesn’t mean everyone will. Just because their ears and taste are not like yours doesn’t mean that their taste lacks validity. After all, taste is subjective. A lot of people feel that all Ailee does is yell, that she doesn’t use HER vocals properly. And I’ve heard in comments’ sections of Youtube and Korean news websites some people who feel she’s trying too hard to sing like an African American woman. There are those who think she tries too hard and they prefer softer, soothing voices, as mentioned before. That’s their opinion, not that yours or there’s are any more valid than the other’s. That is based on culture and experience.
I don’t believe that Krystal’s voice is on the level of Luna, but seeing as this wasn’t an article to compare the two, I focused solely on Krystal’s gifts in my own eyes, outside of comparing her to other artists.
Many people disagree with you about Krystal’s vocals, dancing, and stage presence. That is why she has so many fans. Again, you are trying to push your subjective views onto others. Objectively, these are things that many fans like about her and these are things I shared. I found her voice to be pleasant in its own way, otherwise I wouldn’t have posted her videos.
There are two different kinds of artists: you have your Ellie Goulding with the lighter voice, and your Tori Kelly with a more powerful voice. Both music is something to appreciate. Neither is better than the other.
But again, it is YOUR preference and YOUR taste. Thanks for sharing it. If you don’t like this girl, kindly move along to other articles dedicated to the other f(x) members or other articles out there that support your opinion. This is an informational article about Krystal and her resume.

Ahh, the downside of Kpop is shown in the comments I see
shame on those judgemental so called fans that try to force others into thinking they are the only right ones. *shakes head*
Anyway, you happened to be really right about Krystal! She’s my bias out of the whole Kpop scene for the very reasons you stated, and I happen to love her humble personality. She comes off as very natural and not as someone that regards herself as God’s gift like so many celebrities do. She’s so well-rounded. Hoping for more of her dramas in the future!

I hope to see future dramas as well. 🙂 Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I wouldn’t even go so far as to call them “fans”. Not everyone will like all Kpop groups, but I find Krystal to be amazing. I’m really in awe of her demeanor and natural presence.
Thanks for commenting. 🙂

Maybe if you really speak English then you know she doesn’t really speak English, she always seems confused and trying hard to catch some English words in interviews. She knows English but she isn’t fluent. If she was really that what you call it ‘quick’ learner at language, what about Amber then? Only one and a half year being trainee in Korea then having conversation in Korean, Amber must be in Genius God Level. Taiwanese Rep!

Of course I really speak English. XD As you can tell, everything I post is in English.I’m clearly comfortable in the language.
From much of the interviews, Krystal speaks fluently, especially for someone raised in Korea for most of her life. I don’t know too many interviews where Krystal is confused about English. You would have to post and share those interviews. Still, speaking the language and UNDERSTANDING it are two different things. When Krystal was in San Francisco around debut era, she spoke fluently to the crowd (from what I remember). But she has also stated she is shy and was raised with Korean manners. Being around Americans overwhelms her at times.
Also when people mostly speak one language (in her case Korean), they often forget other languages, like her English. Even Amber often forgets her English and has mentioned it several times in interviews. It doesn’t mean they aren’t fluent and wouldn’t be able to be conversational. After all, Krystal speaks to her own parents in English. She spoke to her sister in English in their reality show.
Amber speaking English isn’t an exceptional skill considering she was born and raised in the USA. Amber herself has said she struggled with Korean and continues to struggle. (Did you hear about the “slip up” when she was on “Real Men”? She’d been training for years, but still made that minor mistake). It’s not that Amber isn’t an excellent speaker, but Krystal is better at speaking languages even OUTSIDE of English and Korean. She’s the best member when speaking Japanese and Thai as well.
Krystal was also voted by the OTHER f(x) members at being the best at learning languages in Hello f(x). Give it a watch.
Amber is Taiwanese American, but she has stated that she doesn’t feel her Chinese is very good and often has a language barrier between herself and her mother.
But if you read Amber’s page, I did acknowledge Amber’s multi-lingual skills, among other things.
Thanks for commenting and sharing your viewpoint.
